Richard is a proposal writer and fundraising expert with over 20 years’ experience in the charity sector. He’s worked with leading organisations like the Institute of Development Studies and Marine Stewardship Council to design and deliver funding strategies and successfully manage hundreds of funding bids.  

Through his career, he has engaged with individual donors, government funding agencies and international foundations, honing an ability to communicate specific, powerful messages to a wide range of audiences. He’s led teams to win multiple seven-figure bids, run fundraising campaigns netting £10 million and increased one company’s annual income from £2 million to £14 million over ten years. 

Alongside his indisputable experience, Richard has ‘a genuine love for language in all contexts’. He uses his passion for language and industry expertise to provide bespoke bid-writing support for our clients through his consultancy work with Emphasis.
